During his residency, Dr. Johnson gained extensive experience in caring for patients of all ages in inpatient and outpatient settings, including clinics, hospitals and long-term care facilities, with specific training in adult medicine and adolescent health, musculoskeletal medicine and in-office procedures.

Background

Dr. Johnson graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a bachelor’s degree in biology and earned his medical degree from the UAB School of Medicine. He then completed a family medicine residency at Prisma Health in Columbia, South Carolina, where he received the Resident Teaching Award.

Medical Research

Dr. Johnson served as a research assistant at Children’s of Alabama Adolescent Medicine Research in Birmingham during this time, assisting in data collection and analysis of parents and guardians of adolescents and young adults to assess adult knowledge of HIV and available prevention resources.
