About Dr. Witherspoon

Dr. Witherspoon provides continuing, comprehensive care to patients from birth to geriatrics in Forest Acres.

Expertise

Dr. Witherspoon has extensive training and experience in the diagnosis, treatment and management of acute and chronic conditions in patients of all ages, as well as multidisciplinary care coordination with providers in a variety of clinical settings, including ambulatory, inpatient, emergent and urgent care. He has also served as a resident member on the board of directors for the South Carolina Academy of Family Physicians.

Background

A Columbia, South Carolina native, Dr. Witherspoon graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, Tennessee, and earned a master’s degree in international business from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. He also completed intensive Chinese language training and business studies at Beijing Language and Cultural University in Beijing, China, during this time. He went on to earn his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he served as vice president of his class, and completed his family medicine residency at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, South Carolina.
